Detailed itinerary
Day 1 : Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On day one, a guide will pick you from the airport in Kigali. The guide will go ahead and brief you before you set off for a visit to Kimironko market. At the market, you will get an interaction with the locals that carry out their activities in this market and they will tell you about their culture and traditions. You will get to see a number of items that they sell and you will get to buy some. Some of these items include earrings, handbags, art pieces, necklaces, bangles, fresh fruits, clothes and many more. After a tour around this market, you will head for lunch at a hotel.
After lunch, you will embark on a journey to Volcanoes national park. Once you reach the park, visitors will get a hotel and check in and this is where they will spend the night.

Day 2 : Gorilla trekking
On day 2, you will wake up for breakfast as early as 6am and after proceed for gorilla trekking at exactly 7am. You will be briefed at the park headquarters and then you will be accompanied by a guide for a gorilla trek. You will spend a couple of hours trying to spot the gorillas which may take you approximately 5 hours depending on the gorillas location. While on a gorilla trek, you will also get the chance to see a number of wildlife including animal species and bird species. A guide will then transfer you to the lodge after spending an hour with the gorillas. You will have lunch at the lodge and relax at the lodge as you wait for dinner. After dinner, you will retire to bed.
Day 3 : Golden monkey trekking and hike to Dian Fossey Tomb
In the morning at the park after breakfast, you will be briefed at the park headquarters about a golden monkey trek and you will then be escorted by the guide to the golden monkey trek. You will trek for about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on the location of the golden monkeys. After you see them, you are allowed to spend only one hour with them while observing their behavior of and sharing moments.
After the golden monkey trek, you will trek back to the headquarters for a lunch meal and after you prepare for a hike to Dian Fossey Tomb with a short briefing that availed to you by the park wardens at the park headquarters. On your hike to Dian Fossey Tomb, you will get the opportunity to see some wildlife species and also learn about the history of the mountain gorillas. There are also numerous graves of the mountain gorillas at this place and the tomb of the famous Dian Fossey. A guide will then take you to the lodge to have dinner and your night rest.
Day 4 : Hike to Mount Bisoke and transfer to Akagera National Park
You will be briefed by the park guides. In this briefing, you will be told the do’s and don’ts when carrying out a hike to Mount Bisoke. A ranger guide will then proceed with you to the hike and he will guide you through the trails. It will take you 4 hours to ascend to the summit of mount bisoke and the return to the starting point will take 2 hours. This hike takes approximately 6 hours and once you get to the summit, you will be able to see other neighboring mountains like Mount Karisimbi, Mount Muhabura among others. You will also get a glance at the surroundings of Volcanoes National Park while at the summit of Mount bisoke. You will descend back to the park headquarters and it is where a guide will transfer you to a hotel for lunch and he will then transfer to Akagera National Park.

Day 5 : Morning game drive and a boat cruise
There will be an early morning game drive at 6:30am at Akagera National Park after breakfast. You will be briefed before you set off and this will be done by the park warden. While on this drive, you will spot a number of animals including the big five that reside in this park. You will also see many birds and various sceneries. After the game drive, you will head back to the lodge and have lunch which will be provided.
Later, a guide will pick you from the lodge and you go for briefing and then you set off for an afternoon boat cruise at lake Ihema. While on the boat ride, you will spot a number of animals like the hippos, crocodiles and many more plus various bird species. This boat ride will take you about an hour. After the boat ride, you will head back to the lodge, relax, have dinner and retire to bed.
Day 6 : Transfer to Kigali airport
You will have breakfast on the last day of the safari and then a guide will pick you from the lodge and transfer you back to Kigali airport.
