This is a 5 days Nyungwe and Volcanoes safari in Rwanda, taking you to Nyungwe National Park for a chimpanzee trekking Rwanda experience and a canopy walk. This Rwanda safari also takes you to Volcanoes National Park for a gorilla trek, a hike to Dian Fossey’s tomb and golden monkey trekking.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park
You will meet and greet at a hotel in Kigali with our professional company driver guide, who will brief you about the safari. You will then go for a city tour to the Kigali Genocide Memorial. You will learn about what took place during the 1994 Rwanda genocide, and afterwards, you will head to a hotel for lunch.
After lunch, you will embark on an approximately 2-hour drive to Volcanoes National Park. Upon arrival, you will check into a lodge, freshen up, have dinner and retire to bed.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and hike to Dian Fossey Tomb
You will have breakfast in the morning at the lodge, and the guide will take you for a briefing at the park headquarters. After the briefing, you will go for a gorilla trek Rwanda with an armed ranger guide. You will take approximately 30 minutes to 7 hours to find the gorillas. This depends on their location, and you will spend only one hour with them. You will take pictures of Rwandan gorillas as you observe them feed, play and much more. You will head back to the lodge.
You will be given lunch at the lodge, and then you will go for an afternoon hike to Dian Fossey’s Tomb. You will come across bird species, primates and many more as you hike to Dian Fossey’s Tomb. You will arrive at the Tomb of Dian Fossey, and you get the chance to learn about the history of the gorillas and Dian Fossey. You will then head back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and transfer to Nyungwe National Park
You will be given breakfast, and after that, you will go for a golden monkey trek in the forest. You will first be briefed, and afterwards, you will embark on the search for the golden monkeys with an armed ranger guide. You will take approximately 30 minutes to 4 hours to spot the golden monkeys. You will spend 1 hour with the golden monkeys as you enjoy their playful behaviour and much more. The guide will take you back to the lodge after the golden monkey trekking experience.
You will have lunch at the lodge after you check out. The guide will transfer you to Nyungwe National Park. You will check into a lodge upon arrival. You will have dinner at the lodge, and after that, you will retire to bed.

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and a canopy walk
You will be given breakfast, and after that, you will go for a Rwanda chimpanzee trek in Nyungwe Forest. You will begin with a transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing. You will then head to the forest to search for the chimpanzees. You will take approximately 30 minutes to 4 hours to spot the chimpanzees. You will spend one hour with the chimpanzees, and the guide will transfer you back to the lodge after making observations of how the chimpanzees behave.
You will have lunch at the lodge, and after lunch, you will go for an afternoon canopy walk. The Nyungwe canopy walk will take about 2 hours, and you will enjoy views of primates, birds, and others. You will then head back to the lodge after the canopy walk. You will have dinner in the evening, and you will retire to bed.
Day 5: Depart for Kigali
You will be given breakfast at the lodge, and you immediately check out after breakfast. The guide will drive you back to Kigali. You will head to a hotel of your choice upon arrival, and that will be the end of the safari.
