Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and transfer to Nyungwe National Park for a canopy walk
Your adventure begins early in the morning with a pickup from your hotel in Kigali. You will set off to Nyungwe National Park from Kigali to Nyungwe National Park, a journey taking about 5 to 6 hours. You will arrive in the afternoon and check into a lodge. After checking in, you will have lunch at your lodge.
In the afternoon, your guide will lead you to the Nyungwe Canopy Walk. As you make your way across the canopy, your guide will point out the different species of plants and trees that dominate the forest. You may also spot birds, butterflies, and monkeys in the treetops, including the blue monkeys and colobus monkeys, which are commonly seen during the walk. This canopy walk lasts for about 2 hours. After your canopy walk, you will return to your lodge for some relaxation, dinner and your night’s rest.

Day 2: Primate Trekking and departure
Wake up early for breakfast before heading out for the primate adventure. The guide will drive you to the park’s entrance to begin your trek, which starts at around 7:00 AM. The primate trekking focuses on Nyungwe’s diverse primate population. The park is home to 13 species of primates, including the famous chimpanzees and L’Hoest’s monkeys, colobus monkeys and many more. Depending on the specific trekking experience you choose, your guide will lead you on a trail where you may encounter different primates, with a special focus on either chimpanzee trekking or a mixed primate trek. The trek typically lasts 2 to 4 hours, depending on the location of the primates.
Upon finding the primates, you will be allowed to observe them for approximately 1 hour. It provides a rare opportunity to witness them feed, play, groom, associate and much more. After your trek, you will return to the lodge to rest and enjoy lunch. After lunch, you will exit the lodge and begin the drive back to Kigali. You will be taken to Kigali Airport for your departure flight.
