4 Days Nyungwe and Lake Kivu Safari
A 4 days Nyungwe and lake kivu safari take you to a tour to two different places in Rwanda that is Nyungwe National Park and lake kivu. Nyungwe National Park is situated in the south eastern part of lake kivu and it is in the Albertine rift valley and is situated in the south western region of Rwanda. At Nyungwe National Park, you will be able to carry out a chimpanzee trek and a canopy walk and at lake kivu, you will engage in a boat cruise and a coffee tour. Lake kivu is among the great lakes of Africa and it is situated on the border of Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. This lake also supports fishing since it harbors a good number of fish species.
Lake kivu has a number of activities that it has to offer to its visitors like sport fishing, boat cruise, cultural tours, birding and many more. Detailed itinerary
Day 1 : Pick up from Kigali airport and transfer to Nyungwe National Park
On day one of the 4 days Nyungwe and lake kivu safari, A guide from Kapo Tours will pick you from Kigali airport and will transfer you to Nyungwe National Park. He will guide you to Rwanda art museum where you will have a glance at the paintings that are kept there which give details about the history of Rwanda.
You will then be taken by the guide to Kigali Serena hotel for lunch and then after you proceed to Nyungwe National Park. Upon reaching the park headquarters, you will check into a lodge where you will take your bath, have dinner and retire to bed.

Day 2 : Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk
On day 2 of the 4 days Nyungwe and lake kivu safari, a guide will lead you to the park headquarters after you having breakfast and the park wardens will brief you about a chimpanzee trek and you will then head to Nyungwe forest with an armed guide to track the chimpanzees. The guide will direct you on the trails to follow and as soon as you spot these primates, you will be availed with one hour to spend with these primates and a guide will also avail you with the information you need to know about these primates. You do some photography of them before you head back to the lodge.
After chimpanzee trekking, you will be transferred to the lodge and you have lunch. After lunch, a guide will lead to the park headquarters for briefing as you prepare for a canopy walk that will give you clear views of Nyungwe forest from the top of the canopy bridge and you will also see the beautiful landscape at the park. After the canopy walk, you will be directed by the guide to the lodge for you dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3 : Transfer to lake kivu and after boat ride
On day 3 of the 4 days Nyungwe and lake kivu safari, you will have breakfast in the morning at Nyungwe National Park and a guide will transfer you to lake kivu after you are done with checking out of the lodge. You will have and enroute lunch at a hotel on your way to lake kivu.
After that lunch, you will proceed to lake kivu where you will check onto a hotel and then head to the park headquarters for briefing before you go for an afternoon boat cruise. This boat cruise will take about 2 to 3 hours and in this period, you will be able to see several vegetation types and bird species and some of these birds include pied king fisher, grey heron, African fish eagle, African darter and many more. After the boat cruise, you will head back to the lodge and relax as you wait for dinner.

Day 4 : Coffee tour and transfer to Kigali airport
On day 4 of the 4 days Nyungwe and lake kivu safari, you will have breakfast in the morning and head to the park headquarters for briefing before you set off. Your coffee tour will commence from Gisenyi on a boat ride to Nyamirundi Island where you will engage in harvesting the coffee and also engage is roasting it. You will be taken through the whole process by the locals that reside there.
After going through all the process, a guide will take you back to the lodge and you have lunch and checkout of the lodge. You will then embark on your journey back to Kigali airport to catch your flight and it is at the airport where you will part ways with the guide.
