Detailed itinerary
Day 1 : Arrival at Kigali Airport
On day 1, a guide will pick you from Kigali Airport and transfer you to a hotel in Kigali. Upon arrival, you will check into a hotel and rest from the flight.
Day 2 : Visiting the Kimironko market in Kigali
On day 2, you will have breakfast at the hotel. You will after head to Kimironko market for a tour. You will be able to meet the locals in this market where you will interact and greet with them. You will be able to acquire a lot of information about the activities done in this market and the various ways how the people in this market survive and their lifestyle.
After touring this market, you will head back to the hotel for lunch and freshen up.
Day 3 : Visiting the Kigali genocide memorial
On day 3, you will visit Kigali genocide memorial where you will see the remains of the genocide. This place has a lot of historical items that throw more light on the events that happened during the genocide.
After the visit, you will retire back to your hotel for lunch and rest.
Day 4 : Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On day 4, you will have breakfast and check out of the hotel in Kigali. You will then proceed to Volcanoes National Park where you will have a stop over at Musanze for lunch.
You will then proceed with your journey to Volcanoes National Park where you will check into a hotel upon arrival. You will freshen up and have dinner and then retire to bed.

Day 5 : Briefing by the guides at the park and rest
On day 5, you will have breakfast and later head to the park headquarters to be given briefing about the activities and what you will follow as you stay at the park.
You will go through briefing with the guide and later retire to your lodge to rest and have meals.
Day 6 : Gorilla trekking
On day 6, you will have breakfast very early in the morning and then head to the headquarters for briefing before you set off for a gorilla trek.
While on the trek you will have chance to interact with these gorillas once you spot them. You will be given strictly one hour to stay with the gorillas.
After that experience you will head back to your hotels for lunch and rest till dinner time.
Day 7 : Bird watching
On day 7, you have an early morning breakfast and prepare for bird viewing. After being briefed, you will set off for bird viewing around different parts of the parks where the birds are most likely to be seen.
A guide will give you the details on the different bird species that you will see at the park and how the manage their lifestyle.
After this activity, you will retire back to the lodge for an lunch, dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 8 : Nature walk
On day 8, there will be a nature walk that you will participate in. You will have breakfast and then after proceed to carrying out the nature walk at volcanoes national park. While on a nature walk, you will get the chance to see different mammals and birds on foot at a close range.
After the nature walk, you will then retire to their hotel to freshen up and have lunch and rest.
Day 9 : Golden monkey trekking
On day 9, you will wake up for breakfast as early as 6am and after proceed for a golden monkey trek at 7am. You will receive a short briefing at the park headquarters and then they will be accompanied by a guide for the trek. While on a golden monkey trek, you will also get the chance to see a number of wildlife that is say different animal species and bird life at the park. You will also be blessed with the chance to see different tree species at the park.
Later in the day, you will retire back to the hotel for a lunch break and after lunch they will freshen up and rest as they wait for dinner.
Day 10 : Visit to Dian Fossey Tomb
On day 10, you will engage in a hike to Dian Fossey Tomb. This activity will take place after the you have eaten breakfast and then proceed to the hike after thorough briefing. You will engage in this hike following the trails that will be directed to them by the guide in order to get to the tomb.
Later in the day, you will go back to their lodges, have lunch, freshen up and then rest till dinner time. After dinner, they will retire to bed.
Day 11 : Touring the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo
On day 11, you will have breakfast in the morning at 8am. You will go through a short briefing and then embark on their tour to the twin lakes of burera and ruhondo. While of this tour, you will get the chance to see various bird species and animals species.
After touring these lakes, you will head back to your place of residence at the park for lunch and then engage in other activities like board games.
Day 12 : Cultural tour at iby’iwacu cultural village
On the day 12, you will have breakfast at 8am and prepare to visit Iby’iwacu cultural village for a cultural tour. In this village, you will meet and interact with the locals that reside in thus village. The locals will throw more light on their culture to you and also entertain you by dancing their cultural dance.
You will later in the day head back to the park to have your lunch. After lunch, you will participate in various board games and later have their dinner and retire to bed.
Day 13 : Hiking mountain Bisoke
On day 13, you will have an early morning breakfast and embark on hike to mountain Karisimbi where you will have the chance to see a number of wildlife and various sights of nature. After the hike, you will head back for lunch at the lodge.
You will later gave dinner and have rest from the hike.
Day 14 : Hiking mountain Karisimbi
On day 14, you will have an early morning breakfast and embark on hike to mountain Karisimbi where you will have the chance to see a number of wildlife and various sights of nature. After the hike, you will head back for lunch at the lodge.
Day 15 : Visit to Karisoke research center
On day 15, you will be served breakfast in the morning and then you will head to Karisoke research center. While at this place, you will have a glance on the various things that were out in place by Dian Fossey the primatologist. This will give more awareness on various things in accordance to this park.
After the visit to this place, you will retire to your lodge and have lunch.
Day 16 : Visiting local communities and rest
On the day 16, you will have breakfast at 8am and prepare to visit to the local communities in around volcanoes national park. In the communities, you will meet and interact with the locals that reside in these communities. The locals will throw more light on their culture and traditions.
You will later in the day head back to the park to have your lunch. After lunch you will have some rest.
Day 17 : Transfer to Nyungwe National Park
On day 17, you will check out if the lodge at volcanoes national park and head to Nyungwe National Park. In the due course of the journey, you will have a stop over for lunch and then proceed with the journey to Nyungwe National Park.
Upon arrival at the park, you will check into the hotel and rest and you prepare for dinner

Day 18 : Bird viewing
On day 18, you have an early morning breakfast and prepare for bird viewing. After being briefed, you will set off for bird viewing around different parts of the parks where the birds are most likely to be seen.
After this activity, you will retire back to the lodge for an lunch, dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 19 : Chimpanzee trekking
On day 19, you will have their breakfast at 8 am and prepare for a chimpanzee trek. The park harbors a number of primates. Before the trek, you will be briefed at the park headquarters on how they must conduct themselves while carrying out a chimpanzee trek of which they will be availed with a guide for guidance.
This chimpanzee trek takes about 2 to 4 hours depending on the location of these primates in the park. Once they are spotted, visitors will be granted one hour to spend with them.
After the trek, visitors will head back to the lodge for lunch and freshen up and later rest.
Day 20 : Canopy walk
On day 20, you have breakfast and then later engage in a canopy walk after being briefed at the park headquarters by the park wardens
After the canopy walk, you will head back to the lodge for lunch, freshen up and rest.
Day 21 : Transfer to Akagera National Park
On day 21, you will check out of the hotel in Nyungwe after having breakfast. You will then head to Akagera National Park where you will check in into a hotel upon arrival.

Day 22 : Boat cruise at Lake Ihema
On day 22, you wake in the morning and have breakfast. You will then be briefed at the park headquarters and then head for a boat cruise at lake Ihema.
While on the cruise you sight a number of wildlife species that live in water and around this lake. Most of the land animals gather around this water source in the dry season due to limited water supply which makes it easy for you to spot them.
After the boat cruise, you will head back to hotel for lunch. You will then entertain yourself by participating in the various board games at the park then you will later have dinner and retire to bed.
Day 23 : Morning game drive
On day 23, you will have a short briefing at the park headquarters and head for a game drive where you will be availed with a guide to lead the way.
You will be able to see a number of animals in this park while on the drive. A guide will give you detailed information about the various animals that will be spotted in the due course of the ride.
You will head back to the hotel and freshen up and prepare for lunch.
Day 24 : Cultural tour
On day 24, you will embark on a cultural tour to the local communities in Akagera National Park where you will interact with the locals about various things like their culture, lifestyle and traditions. You will also get to see how this people dance as in their cultural dance that will be performed by them.
After this visit, you will then retire back to the park for refreshment and relaxation.
Day 25 : Nature walk
On day 25, you will have breakfast in the morning and then head to a nature walk around Akagera National Park. While carrying out this nature walk following various trails in the park, you will be able to sight various animals and birds at a close range. You will also see various tree species where some of the animals and birds reside.
After completing the nature walk, you will then head back to the hotel for lunch, freshen up, relax till dinner time and then retire to bed.
Day 26 : Transfer to lake Kivu
On day 26, you will have breakfast in the morning, check out of the hotel in Akagera National Park and then head to Lake Kivu. You will have an enroute for lunch.
Upon arrival at lake Kivu, you will check into a hotel, have dinner and rest.
Day 27 : Boat cruise at Lake Kivu
On day 27, you will head for a boat cruise on lake Kivu. While at this cruise you be granted the chance to see various aquatic birds and animals. These sights give different experiences to visitors and there are also various beautiful landscapes around this lake that you will be able to see.
After the boat cruise, you will retire back to your hotel for refreshment and relax after lunch.
Day 28 : Touring town of Gisenyi and Kibuye
On day 28, you will first have breakfast in the morning at 8am where you will after tour around the neighboring towns of Kibuye and Gisenyi. While on this tour, you will get the chance to interact with the locals that reside in this town which will expose you to their culture and traditions. This experience rewards you with a lot of knowledge about these Rwandese people.
After touring around these towns and seeing various landscapes, you will then head back to the hotel for lunch, freshen up and then rest.
Day 29 : Return to Kigali city and visit to kandt house museum
On day 29, you will have breakfast in the morning, check out of the hotel and head to Kigali. Upon arrival at Kigali, you will check into a hotel and have lunch.
After lunch, you will head to kandt house museum and while at this museum you will get exposed to the rich history of the ancient times in Rwanda.
You will retire back to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 30 : Transfer back to Kigali airport
On day 30, you will have breakfast at the hotel in Kigali, check out and head to Kigali airport for a flight.
