This is an 18 days Uganda and Rwanda safari that takes you for an exploration of Uganda and Rwanda’s diverse wildlife, natural landforms and beautiful landscapes. This Combined safari engages you in a number of activities in various destinations in both Uganda and Rwanda. In Uganda, you get the opportunity to engage in activities like gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park, game drives and boat cruises in Murchison Falls National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park. In Rwanda, you get the opportunity to carry out activities like gorilla trekking, hike to Dian Fossey Tomb, in Volcanoes National Park, game drive in Akagera National Park a boat cruise on Lake Ihema. Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from Entebbe Airport and transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

On day 1, you will be transferred by a guide from Entebbe Airport to Murchison Falls National Park with a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to see rhinos and another in Masindi for lunch. You will get to the park in the evening, check into a lodge, have dinner and retire to bed.

Day 2: Morning game drive and an afternoon boat cruise at the bottom of the falls

On day 2, you will have breakfast and then go for a morning game drive. You will spot several birds and animals during the game drive, and then you will get back to the lodge for lunch. You will then have an afternoon boat cruise at the bottom of the falls.

The boat cruise will reward you with sights of aquatic animals like hippos and crocodiles, and others on the shores. You will get to the lodge for dinner and your night’s rest.

Day 3: Albert Delta launch cruise

On day 3, you will have breakfast and then go for the boat cruise at the Albert Delta. The boat cruise will take about 4 to 5 hours. You will be able to spot many birds, including the rare shoebill. You will then get back to the lodge for lunch, dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

On day 4, you will have breakfast and check out of the lodge. You will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you will check into a lodge for your lunch, dinner and your night’s rest.

Day 5: Morning game drive and an afternoon boat cruise

On day 5, you will have a morning game drive after you a done with breakfast. You will spot wildlife, for example, elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, hyenas, bushbucks and many more. You will go back to the lodge for lunch.

You will have an afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga channel, taking about 2 to 3 hours. You will spot several birds and animals. You will then return to the lodge for dinner and your night’s rest.

Day 6: Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge

On day 6, you will have breakfast and then be briefed by the guides at the park headquarters. You will then go for chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge. The chimpanzee trek will take you about 30 minutes to 4 hours to find the chimpanzees, and then you will have one hour with them. You will then head back to the lodge for lunch, relaxation, dinner and your night’s stay.

Day 7: Transfer to Kibale National Park

On day 7, you will be transferred to Kibale National Park after breakfast and leaving the lodge at Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will arrive at Kibale National Park, check into a lodge, have lunch, and rest at the lodge. You will be served dinner, and then you will retire to bed.

Day 8: Chimpanzee trekking and visit to Bigodi wetland sanctuary

On day 8, you will have breakfast and then go for a briefing. You will then go for chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest. You will spend 1 hour with the chimpanzees after taking about 30 minutes to 4 hours searching for them. You will then get back to the lodge for lunch.

You will visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a swamp walk, where you will spot birds and several primates. You will get back to the lodge for dinner and your night’s rest.

Day 9: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

On day 9, you will be transferred from Kibale National Park to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will get to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and check into a lodge. It’s where you will have lunch, dinner and a night’s stay.

Day 10: Gorilla trekking

On day 10, you will have breakfast and then receive your packed lunch at the lodge. You will go for a briefing at the lodge, and then you set off for gorilla trekking after allocation to a gorilla family. You will spend one hour with the gorillas after finding them. After making your observations, you will get back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and your night’s rest.

Day 11: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

On day 11, you will have breakfast and check out of the lodge. You will then be transferred to Volcanoes National Park, and you will arrive and have lunch at the lodge after checking in. You will later have dinner and retire to bed.

Day 12: Gorilla trekking and hike to Dian Fossey Tomb

On day 12, after breakfast, you will go for a gorilla trek and spend 1 hour with the gorillas. You will then get back to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will go for a hike to Dian Fossey’s Tomb. You will be able to see the Tomb of Dian Fossey and visit Karisoke research centre for awareness about the research done on the gorillas. You will go back to the lodge for dinner and your night’s rest.

Day 13: Hike to Mount Bisoke

On day 13, you will have breakfast and then go for a hike to Mount Bisoke, which will take approximately 6 hours. The 4 hours will be used to ascend to the summit, but this depends on your level of fitness, and the 2 hours will be used for descending. You will get back to the lodge after the hike. You will have lunch, dinner and your night’s rest.

Day 14: Visit to Iby’iwacu cultural village and transfer to Nyungwe National Park

On day 14,  after breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and then go for a visit to Iby’iwacu cultural village for a cultural experience. You will then head to Nyungwe National Park, where you will have lunch, dinner and your night’s stay.

Day 15: Chimpanzee trekking and a canopy walk

On day 15, you will have breakfast and then have a chimpanzee trek while on a Rwanda safari, enabling spot chimpanzees that you will spend one hour with. After observing their behaviour, you will go back to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will go for a canopy walk for about 2 hours at the suspended bridge. You will then return to the lodge for dinner and your night’s rest.

Day 16: Transfer to Akagera National Park

On day 16, you will have breakfast and be transferred to Akagera National Park, from where you will have lunch, dinner and a night stay at the lodge that you will check into.

Day 17: Morning game drive and a boat cruise at Lake Ihema

On day 17, you will have a morning game drive in Akagera National Park after breakfast. You will spot the big five animals and other wildlife species while on the morning game drive, and you will be taken back to the lodge for lunch.

You will go for a boat cruise on Lake Ihema after lunch. The boat cruise will start at 3 pm. This boat cruise will give you views of birds and wildlife like hippos and crocodiles. You will get back to the lodge, refresh, have dinner and retire to bed.

Day 18: Depart for Kigali Airport

On day 18, you will have breakfast and then depart for Kigali Airport for your flight.
